Fully funded and Partial Charity for Charity Scholarship 2024.

Fully funded and Partial Charity for Charity Scholarship 2024.

The Tilburg University Fund Foundation and the Charitas Foundation have together created the Charity for Charity Fund to support studies in the field of care and the religious life at Tilburg University for the following student groups: 1) Women living a spiritual life either within a religious community of any faith or outside it, or 2) female students from emerging and developing countries.

Background

The Charitas Foundation, an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, is responsible for continuing the legacy of Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Charity, in whose name this support will be provided.

Following in the tradition of St Francis of Assisi, the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Charity, established in 1834 by Mother Theresia Saelmakers, worked within the community, providing nursing care and education. The spiritual characteristics of the Congregation were expressed as: Helping others in cheerfulness, simplicity and above all in love, and spreading one’s own joy of life among the sick and needy in prayer and sacrifice. They believed in helping first, then praying.
